Florence Nightingale

When we learn about the life of a famous person, we often only hear the headlines. Florence Nightingale is known to many simply as the “Lady with the Lamp.” However, the more life stories you read or hear about a person, the better you get to know them. Florence cared for others (including many animals) from the time she was very young. She also had a habit of speaking her mind, standing up for herself, and changing things for the better. The lamp, which she carried as she cared for soldiers at night during a war, was just a small part of her story.
